@Morrison’s time to re-think Market Street

Next door to the market in Wigan, there is a Morrisons.

You can walk through the real Wigan market with ease.

Morrisons, on the other hand is coagulated.

Every time some old biddy with a trolley stops to examine anything, all movement stops.

There is no room to manoeuvre around them and little chance of examining the same merchandise.

It is, in fact, easier to negotiate the Souk in Marrakesh.

Nobody in a hurry would shop there, which is why its customer base is mainly the elderly with time on their hands.

Market Street doesn’t have to be as crowded as a favela, to achieve the ethos intended.
