Congratulations, Parliament‏ : letter to Express 30/08/13

No matter whether you were for action against Assad, or if you were not, the defeat of David Cameron’s motion must have cheered you.
It must have cheered every voter, who wants to believe that we live in a Democracy, rather than an elected dictatorship.
How many believed, as I did that, after an interminable period of posturing, the House of Commons would meekly concede to David Cameron’s demand to align with the USA.
I fully expected a “swift, sharp reprimand” argument would be accepted and we’d find ourselves in a quagmire that would sap our national resources and prove, once again, that voters were only important for one month, every 4 years.
