@Daily_Express, BBC Newsnight wants our children to blame austerity on us.

A recent BBC Newsnight program lay claim that Generation “Y” blamed my generation for the financial straits that they now face.

For the record, generation Y (Who provided this label? Government?) is my children’s generation; the young adults, who are bearing the brunt of the tax burden.

BBC Newsnight and its presenter, Jeremy Paxman, are telling my children’s generation that they are blaming my generation for the present financial mess. My phrasing is deliberate. It’s the way that The Devil, in traditional stories, insinuates into the minds of his victims that it is they who are thinking, how he would have them do.

This is the same old political formula of “divide and conquer”.

In this case, the propagandists are trying to paint pensioners as the cause of the Nation’s ills

My children know, who is responsible for the present austerity regime.

It wasn’t their parents, it was the ruling classes. It was the politicians.

My children’s generation know that we didn’t vote for a European Superstate, politicians did.

My children’s generation know that we didn’t introduce tuition fees, politicians did.

My children’s generation know that we didn’t agree to creating a huge National debt to keep Spain, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Cyprus, etc. afloat, politicians did.

My children’s generation know that we didn’t vote for an Energy Policy (politicians make policy) that will leave homes in the dark, next Winter, politicians did.

My children’s generation know that we didn’t intend for them to pay for our old age. They know that politicians embezzled the money that we paid in National Insurance contributions. (This is despite propaganda campaigns to persuade them otherwise)

My children’s generation know that we didn’t decide to give charity funds to countries, which are wealthier than ourselves, politicians did.

My children’s generation know that we didn’t devastate our armed forces, police forces, ambulance Service, fire service and prison service, politicians did.

My children’s generation know that we didn’t privatise our Gas, Elec, Water, Railway etc. and sell them off to our E.U. “partner’s”, so they can gouge us, politicians did.

My children’s generation know that we don’t draw up tax regimes that benefit tax evaders, politicians do.

We don’t set politician’s wages and expenses fiddles, politicians appoint “independent” bodies that “listen” to politician’s and the “award” them a “fair rate” with “fair” golden handshakes, “fair” tax exemptions and “fair” lifetime pensions (which make the State pension for plebs look ridiculous.). We didn’t decide that most MP’s should reach pension age as millionaire’s…………..Politician’s did.

My children’s generation know that we didn’t send troops into Iraq etc., politicians did.

We protested many of these acts but we have no more say in how politicians run the country, than Generation “Y” does.

My children’s generation know that we do not have a democracy and that politician’s are not accountable to us.

They know that he, who pays the piper, calls the tune.

They know that the paymaster’s of Politician’s  are the Bank’s, Insurance companies and the large multinational’s, who pay minimal tax and who benefit from Government schemes such as HS2 and The Dome.

Politicians will continue to “sow dragon’s teeth” , trying to cause distracting debates, whilst they press on with their own self-serving agenda. It’s up to  us, Generation “X”, who’ve lived through successive Government’s, who’ve learned to recognise the devices of politicians, to warn the next generation to keep their eye on the ball.
