@daily_express #NHS survey not comforting read if you can pick out the relevant bits.

I was directed to this http://nhsstaffsurveys.com/cms/index.php?page=2011-results-2 ,as evidence that the NHS staff were happy in their employment. This was contrary to tweets that I had been reading, so I checked it out myself.

I culled the following from the spreadsheets, as being germane. pic.twitter.com/OYywmdexki

I then tweeted this to the person claiming that it was evidence that all was well.

I’ve had a look and it’s not so cheery. Ignoring the tendency of staff not to be too negative, faced by an official survey and, ignoring the 30%-40%, who are consistently non-committal, the bulk of positive comment consists of agreeing that they enjoy their vocation and feel rewarded by it.

They like their colleagues and immediate management etc.

The negative can be seen in the aspects that have been tweeted about.

For instance 43% feel that they don’t have enough time. 48% think they are understaffed and 35%-40% felt alienated from senior staff with 45% not reporting abuse and 38% under stress
