me no speak computerese……….. Plug in and play! no way.

Trying to change from Virgin media (overcharging “stick in the mud “, or loyal, customers, offering multi- goodies to newbies) to BT.

Given up for the day on trying to get system up and running. Basically a wireless system seems to need several miles of cable and an expert knowledge of computerese.

For example I got this error message:

Your wireless adapter or software is not compatible

We’re unable to set up a wireless connection as your Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller does not support the default WPA wireless security setting for your Hub.

We recommend you : Change the default wireless security in your Hub to the more basic WEP security option. See your Hub User Guide for more details.

It looks like English but this is what I read:

your wireless adapter or software is not compatible

We’re unable to set up a wireless connection as your flibbety-flob does not support the flobbety flib for your Hub.

We recommend you : Change the default wireless security in your Hub to the more basic flib-flob security option. See your Hub User Guide for more details.

Note the phrase “See your Hub User Guide for more details”.

Nowhere in the user guide does it tell you how to “Change the default wireless security in your Hub to the more basic flib-flob security option”

Of course if you speak computerese, you can probably identify the correct item to look up in the index, or flick through to the correct page.

Tomorrow, I’ll sit down with the Abused’s guide and try to read and inwardly digest, in the vague hope that something will click. I’ll then twiddle and fiddle and probably find that the fault lies with some security setting, or some driver that I need to download, assuming I were able to get on-line to download it.
