outages are a consequence of privatisation

I picked this up on the tweets from breaking News.

Idon’t know which company is responsible but I do know that one Californian company now owns some of the privatised British Power Stations.

This is one of the problems with privatisation.

Whereas the nationalised Industry considered its priority was to ensure no outages, privatised companies have priority to increase profits by reducing costs and will risk outages by asset stripping and running insufficient supply resources.

We’ve already seen it this year with a hosepipe ban, despite it being an excessively wet Summer. Why, because they sold off too many reservoirs as landfill and the re=development land for housing.
